The most heartbreaking aspect of scaling a successful business and becoming a more amazing version of you

So, what is the most heartbreaking aspect of scaling a successful business and becoming a more amazing version of you?

Outgrowing people you love.

Recently, we let go of an outside consultant who had come aboard to help MindFix grow about a year ago.

He’d provided a deeply supportive energy to me personally as I’d forged ahead and navigated choppy waters to grow the business…

…but in his last 4 months his performance plummeted and his communications deteriorated; he could no longer keep up with our pace.

  • He’d not been able to keep his word to us.
  • He’d missed nearly every self-imposed deadline he’s set for himself.
  • He’d failed to hit our key agreed-upon deliverables.

His actions and in-actions began to hurt internal decision-making, planning, team members, and morale.

I’d grown to truly love this person, but he’d become toxic to MindFix as a consultant.

It hurt, but it was time to let him go.

Here’s what you need to know about this:

THE HOURGLASS ANALOGY

Transition and growth can be like getting squeezed through the skinny part of an hourglass.

It’s uncomfortable, and when you make it through to the other side, you’ll realize not everything from your “previous life” came along for the ride.

Things get left behind and don’t make it through the squeeze.

If you’re truly leveling up and becoming a more amazing version of you, that often means PEOPLE (some of whom you may still love) get left behind.

It may be difficult.
But that’s okay.
This is to be expected.

You can still love those people.
But you need to move on.

You’re squeezing through the hourglass.
You’ll be on the other side soon, with me.

Looking forward to seeing the new you.
